Commonly known as the Dermaroller, this therapy utilises multiple fine needles to penetrate the skin and stimulate the production of collagen.

There are two types – the manual roller and the electronic pen, with varying needle length depending upon the indication. We combine needling with a solution (licenced for dermal injection) containing multiple nutrients for skin health and treatment recovery.

Medical needling can target:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Some acne scarring
  • Stretch marks

Medical needling has one important advantage over some treatments – It provides deep stimulation whilst leaving the superficial skin comparatively unscathed.

Our clients most common questions

Does needling / Dermaroller treatment hurt?
It can hurt. However, we find it well tolerated by using local anaesthetic cream and by adjusting our technique in response to your feedback.
Can I use a dermaroller at home?
Yes, this can be useful and we can provide a home-care kit. The needles are shorter for safety reasons which means home-use dermaroller is less directly effective at producing collagen. However, it’s useful in improving the epidermis and in assisting the absorption of creams.
How long before I see results?
You will start to see results after several days. However, it will take 6 weeks or more for the new collagen to be evident.
Can you treat around the eyes?
Yes. Sometimes we target specific areas, such as the eyes, rather than treating the full face.
Where else can be treated?
After the face, the most common areas to treat are the décolletage or any area where there are stretchmarks or scars.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the indication we are treating. Many people will need 2 or 3 treatments at 4 to 5 weekly intervals. Scarring and stretchmarks usually require 5 or more.
I’m pregnant/breastfeeding, can I have this treatment?
Sorry, no. The risk is unknown since no research would ever be undertaken on pregnant or breastfeeding women. Medical ethics dictate therefore that it is not a risk worth taking.
